SHAGIRD

Cast: Nana Patekar, Anurag Kashyap, Mohit Alawat, Zakir Hussain, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Khan Jahangir Khan, Rimi Sen
Producer: Hussain Shaikh
Director: Tigmanshu Dhulia

Shagird-its a story of a crime branch cop Hanumant Singh(nana patekar) who is believed to be between GOD and humans because he fears GOD and humans fear him. This cop understands legal, political and underworld systems so well that he uses it well to the benefit of self and others. The plot is interesting with some twists and turns but overall the director fails to weave the threads in order to present a tough fabric for the audience. Nana does a an effortless job as this is just one more of this genre. He does a good job of entertaining the audience with his piercing and witty dialogues. Mohit ( Mohit Ahlawat) plays the Shagird. He poses himself as a wax statue almost throughout the film. The film reminds of hollywood hits Training day and Recruit. Ustad would have been a better title for the film but in the end its for you to see what suits best. Rating 2.5. One time watch if you dont have anything better to do.
